Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has declared that Aadhar card will no longer be accepted as the certificate for Date of Birth (DOB). Hence EPFO has removed the Aadhar card as a document for the correction in the date of birth.

EPFO has said that the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has itself sent a letter demanding to remove the Aadhar card to be accepted as a certificate for showing date of birth. It should be know that UIDAI is the authority, custodian and issuing authority of Aadhar card. The EPFO has said the above by the circular No: WSU/2024/1/UIDAI Matter/4090.

UIDAI has said the Aadhar card can be used for the identification of any individual but not as a proof for the date of Birth. The above document has already been issued by MeitY the government organization in December 2023.

UIDAI the issuer of Aadhar card said the removal of the Aadhar card as a Birth Certificated also been given in the judgement of Hon’ble High Court of Bombay in the case of State of Maharashtra Vs Unique Identification Authority of India on 28/07/2023 and many other High courts in India.
